The Higg Index is an apparel and footwear industry self-assessment standard to rate environmental and social sustainability throughout the supply chain.

Across topics such as water use, carbon emissions, and labor conditions, consumer goods brands, retailers, manufacturers, governments, NGOs, and consumers.
What is HIGG FEM?
The Higg Facility Environmental Module (Higg FEM) is a sustainability assessment tool that standardizes how facilities measure and evaluate their environmental performance, year over year.
The Higg FEM informs brands, retailers, and manufacturers about the environmental sustainability performance of their facilities, so they can make improvements that reduce negative sustainability impacts.
What is verification?
Verification ensures that you accurately completed all parts of the Higg FEM – giving your self-assessment the credibility and accuracy required to share it publicly. Verification of the FEM self-assessment is conducted by a third- or second-party SAC-approved verifier

Depending on an establishment's familiarity with FEM and general knowledge of sustainability, it may take 3-6 weeks for an establishment to complete the assessment, or longer if this is the first time.
